Bar/Bat Mitzvah Training at Chabad

January 25, 2022 by The Inside Press

At Chabad: A unique approach to Bar/Bat Mitzvah training… regardless of where the celebration and service will be taking place.

.

Our emphasis in preparing for Bar /Bat Mitzvah is to foster an awareness that this milestone is only the beginning of Jewish life. We achieve this by providing each child the opportunity to function as a Jew no matter what life brings.

We believe that the most important event in the life of a young person, should be more than just rote memorization leading up to an anxiety-ridden recital of the Torah.

Our emphasis is to foster an awareness that this milestone is only the beginning of Jewish life and help attain a greater appreciation of a Jewish adult’s responsibilities.

Private tutoring, arranged to accommodate today’s demanding lifestyle, is available upon request to help you prepare for this special day

January 24, 2022 by The Inside Press

The Westchester County and Hudson Valley law enforcement community said that it traveled ‘as one’ on Sunday to the 32nd Precinct in Manhattan ‘to stand in solidarity and grief with the NYPD’ and to mourn one of its fallen officers.

The following statement which appeared in social media was sent to the Inside Press by the Westchester County Police:

“We mourn the loss of life that has occurred and stand united with the men and woman of the NYPD.

Our officers brought wreaths, food, cards and a contribution to the fund that will assist the families impacted by this enormous tragedy.

Our collective message to the NYPD was: We Stand With You. Different patches, same police family.

Dozens of agencies gathered this morning at the Westchester County Police Academy to travel in a caravan to Manhattan. The WCPD and Port Chester PD organized this gathering and we are grateful to the following agencies for their participation and support:

Ardsley PD, Bedford PD, Bronxville PD, Clarkstown PD, Dobbs Ferry PD, DC 10-13 Foundation of Hudson Valley, Dutchess County SD, Eastchester PD, Greenburgh PD, Harrison PD, Kent PD, Larchmont PD, Mount Pleasant PD, Mount Vernon PD, MTA PD, New Castle PD, New Rochelle PD, New York SP, North Castle PD, Orangetown PD, Pelham PD, Pelham Manor PD, Port Chester PD, Putnam County SD, Rockland County DA’s Squad, Rockland County SD, Rye Brook PD, Rye PD, Scarsdale PD, Sleepy Hollow PD, Stamford Police Assoc., Tuckahoe PD, Westchester Blue Foundation, Westchester County PD, Westchester County PSEF, Westchester County DES, White Plains PD, Yonkers PD and Yorktown PD.

Many PBAs and police organizations provided generous support to the fund-raising effort.”

Random Farms Kids’ Theater Returns to In-Person Mainstage Performances with Production of Seussical™, Featuring Local Students

January 24, 2022 by The Inside Press

The Random Farms Kids’ Theater will present Seussical™ at The Paramount Hudson Valley Theater, January 28 –30, 2022.

The show features Armonk residents, Maddie Wohl, Mallory Yahr, and Ben Wohl in the role of Baby Kangaroo, Who #1, and Horton the Elephant

Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical™ is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime), have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

Over 40 young actors ages 8-17 will perform in the show, which marks the first Mainstage production to return to in-person performances since 2020. “We are thrilled to be heading back to the stage with these incredibly talented casts!,” says director (and Random Farms Artistic Director), Sarah Boyle. “In preparation we have been enjoying Green Eggs and Ham and making sure we eat our bread Butter Side Up!

ABOUT THE SHOW:

Seussical™ features music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty and was co-conceived by Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, and Eric Idle, based on the works of Dr. Seuss. The production is directed by Sarah Boyle with music direction by Joseph Brewer.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.
