Horace Greeley High School Presents “The Laramie Project,” A Modern Classic

March 6, 2017 by Inside Press

Reserve your Tickets for the following performances: March 8th, 9th and 10th at 7 p.m. and March 11th at 8 p.m.

On October 7, 1998, a young gay man was discovered bound to a fence outside of Laramie, Wyoming, savagely beaten and left to die in an act of brutality and hate that shocked the nation. Matthew Shepherd’s death became a national symbol of intolerance, but for the people of the town, the event was deeply personal. In the aftermath, Moises Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project went to Laramie and conducted more than 200 interviews with its citizens. From transcripts, the playwrights constructed an extraordinary chronicle of life in the town after the murder. Since its premiere, The Laramie Project has become a modern classic and one of the most-performed theater pieces in America.

This docu-drama brings to light startling realities about the society we live in and causes audience members to question their own morals and beliefs and those of their fellow Americans.

Due to the subject matter, this production is not recommended for children under 13.

February 27, 2017 by The Inside Press

Chappaqua, New York–The Chappaqua-based group, Left of Main Street, will host a round table panel discussion “Separating Fact From Fiction in Trump’s America” on March 3, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. The discussion will be held in the Assembly Room at Chappaqua’s Town Hall located at: 200 S. Greeley Avenue, Chappaqua.

Participating in the discussion are journalists from television and print media, including: Kristen Prata Browde former anchor at CBS News, Helen Jonsen former TV journalist at Fox 5 and WPIX 11, Peter Katz former producer, editor and Washington Bureau Chief at ABC News, and Kate Stone Lombardi a regular contributor to the NY Times.  Chappaqua’s own, Grace Bennett, Publisher and Editor of The Inside Press, will moderate the discussion.

More than 120 supporters and Friends of Neighbors Link, gathered recently to view the film “Food Chains,” at the Jacob Burns Film Center. Members of Latin Links hold this annual event that uses film to inform and educate the public around issues that impacts our daily lives as told through the immigrant experience. “Food Chains” is the award-winning documentary film exposé about an intrepid group of Florida farm workers and their battle to defeat the $4 trillion global supermarket industry through the ingenious Fair Food program, to improve working conditions for farm laborers in the United States.

Taylored Menus, based in Pleasantville, prepared Latin-themed appetizers – empanadas, popusas, and tiny tacos, and Neighbors Link’s client leaders prepared Latin-themed desserts, including the ever popular flan, for the post screening reception.
