JDRF 26th Annual Gala: Courage Today, Cure Tomorrow

February 9, 2012 by The Inside Press

Honoring Mary Jane Denzer and Bonnie Trotta

The Westchester County Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will host its 26th Annual Gala on Saturday, May 5th at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich.

Mary Jane Denzer

Westchester’s own Mary Jane Denzer and Bonnie Trotta will be honored for their commitment and dedication to the organization. The elegant evening will include dinner and dancing.  “I’m thrilled to be involved with such an exciting event in support of a very worthwhile cause.  I believe that one person’s efforts can make a big difference but the involvement of local businesses together, and their network of connections, can really supercharge fundraising,” says Mary Jane Denzer.

Bonnie Trotta

The JDRF Gala continues to attract Westchester County’s most prominent business leaders, and patrons.   The night will feature live entertainment, silent and live auctions, and JDRF’s Fund A Cure.

Last year JDRF raised over $550,000 for Type 1 Diabetes research thanks in part to the generous support of PepsiCo, Bayer HealthCare, Country Bank, Brown & Tarantino, MDC Partners, Entergy and our family sponsors.

JDRF is the global leader in finding cures and treatments for Type 1 Diabetes.

If you would like more information about Type 1 Diabetes, or would like an interview with Mary Jane Denzer and/or Bonnie Trotta please call Stephen Gnojewski @914-686-7700 or sgnojewski@jdrf.org.

Annual Flood Sisters Raises Funds for Matching Donors

February 1, 2012 by The Inside Press

Cynthia Flood (left) with Celebrity comedian, Lynne Koplitz, and Jennifer Flood at a December fundraiser

The Sisters (Jennifer, Cynthia, and Heather) were faced with their dad needing a kidney transplant. But there was no matching donor. As a last resort, they posted an ad on Craig’s list and reached out.

Outcome: a donor was found and came forward from California. Seeing how they could help people, they created the Flood Sisters Foundation. they now hold an annual benefit, which takes place in Manhattan to raise awareness and funds. To date, six transplants have taken place nationally on account of their efforts and the first international transplant will take  place in London in the near future. Because of a little caring. For more info go to www.floodsisters.org or call 646-287-2900.

The Conservatory’s “Dance the Night Away”

January 31, 2012 by The Inside Press

The Conservatory’s “Dance the Night Away” event will celebrate our music therapy program’s 25th anniversary. In Westchester, over 2,000 children with disabilities receive music therapy in their schools in small groups and at the Conservatory each week. Event proceeds will help to make up more than $60,000 in government funding cuts this year, help continue to grow the program and accept new students, too. The event is to be held at the CV Rich Mansion at 305 Ridgeway in White Plains and begins March 16th at  6:30 for cocktails with the sounds of our Jazz Ensemble. At 7:30 dinner will be served in the ballroom and then dancing from about 8 – until midnight. Event tickets start at $250; sponsorships and tables are also available.
