This Saturday from 11 to 4, Eye Designs of Armonk is proud to invite you to our annual Oliver Peoples Trunk Show. Oliver Peoples has been an integral part of our collection and as we celebrate our 15th anniversary in Armonk, we believe this will be another fantastic show!

On Saturday, Oliver Peoples will be showing their latest frames, including their full summer sunglasses line for 2014. There will be music, refreshments and a special appearance by 107.1 The Peak’s Jimmy Fink from 12 to 2.

Consulting For A Cause: A Great CHOICE

With Valentine’s Day come and gone, we are left with memories of love lost, roses by the dozen, and heart-shaped chocolate boxes. For Paula Barbag and her Consulting For A Cause (CFC) Team, however, the spirit of love, passion, and devotion extends year round. CFC, as the firm is known within the fundraising world, has operated under the premise of care-based prosperity since its inception in 2012. Within the past twelve months, 2013’s New Business of the Year helped to spread the love within the greater Westchester area by providing vital consulting services to the organizations that need them the most.

“Consulting For A Cause has become our lifeline to new strategies and approaches.” Such are the words of Guy Fessenden, CFC’s first client. In October of 2010, Fessenden brought an end to his lucrative IT career so he could run from Savannah, Georgia to Santa Monica, California–all to raise awareness for mental illness. Fessenden now works alongside his daughter Suzanne, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia at age 16, as the Executive Director of C.H.O.I.C.E. of New Rochelle. C.H.O.I.C.E. (Consumers Helping Others in a Caring Environment) is a nonprofit organization that provides case management, advocacy, and homeless outreach services to those afflicted with mental illness.

The two year relationship shared between CFC and C.H.O.I.C.E. has undoubtedly helped to accelerate programmatic development within the latter organization. Most recently, CFC helped to raise $20,000 for C.H.O.I.C.E. with a fundraising art exhibit hosted by internationally renowned pop artist Charles Fazzino.

The event, which featured artwork drawn by C.H.O.I.C.E. clients, served as a medium through which the isolation and loneliness felt each day by those with mentally illness could be expressed. Fessenden’s latest project, Share The Light, is a grass roots organization that hopes to dismantle the negative stigmas currently associated with mental illness in contemporary society.

The First Congregational Church of Chappaqua (FCC) Now “Open and Affirming!”

FCCSpring2010Throughout its 100 year history, FCC has prided itself on being welcoming to all who wish to pursue their faith journey with others who believe in the liberty of conscience. Over 25 years ago, the United Church of Christ created an Open and Affirming commitment and encouraged their congregations to proclaim themselves as such. The Open and Affirming designation is intended to express a church’s affirmation of all human beings and their welcome into the life of the church.It is especially focused on the inclusion and welcome of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender folks, who have been the subject of much discrimination and prejudice. FCC decided a year ago that it wanted to consider taking the important formal step of intentionally becoming Open and Affirming.

On January 24, 2013 at its Annual Meeting, after a year of open discussion, information sessions and thoughtful consideration, the FCC congregation joyously and overwhelmingly voted to become Open and Affirming. The congregation adopted the following all inclusive statement:

  • Taking scripture as our guide, and mindful of our mission to be a caring community, we acknowledge, accept and affirm that all people are equal children of God. We welcome into the worship, work and fellowship of this congregation 
all people.
  • People of every race and mixture of races.
  • People of every ethnic background and nationality.
  • People who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and straight.
  • People in any economic situation.
  • People, regardless of physical or 
mental prowess or limitation.
  • Trusting in God’s grace and with the hope of guidance from the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to strive to fulfill this affirmation.

Building on our commitment to be Open and Affirming, it is FCC’s hope and intention to be a place where everyone is welcome, where we celebrate our differences and where we find strength in the things we share. We encourage you to join us as we enter our second century and affirm our commitment to be as understanding, accepting and inclusive as possible of all of God’s children!

Join us for a morning of non-stop fun! Your child will run, jump, tumble, balance, stretch, sing, create, move & groove all under the supervision of our well trained & certified staff. Come experience the joys of gymnastics, music & art. It’s a mix that your child is sure to love! Children must be 3 yrs old by 11/1/13, have previously been in a separation program, and potty trained.
Members: $55/day, Non-members: $65/day

December Break Classes:
Mighty Muscle Movers (15-35 mos): Join us for 45 minutes of non-stop action. Our enthusiastic teachers will lead you (or a caregiver) and your child through an exciting class filled with running, jumping, tumbling, climbing, swinging and stretching. Just the right size for tiny tumblers! Adult participation. Members: $20, Non-members: $30
Jingle Jam Holiday Concert (1-5 yrs): Sing, dance, move, & groove to rhythm and song. You and your child will jam for 45 min while exploring musical instruments and props. The perfect blend of old favorites, classics & new tunes. A great class for siblings to enjoy together! Two great concerts: Bobby Doowah on 12/26 and Miss Rhea on 12/30! Adult participation. First child $20, each additional sibling: $15
Fantastic Inflatable Fun (3-7 yrs): Everyone needs time to bounce around! Drop the kids off with us for 1 hour of bouncing and climbing in our air castle, super-duper 9 ft inflatable slide, trampoline & an obstacle course that will leave them smiling from ear to ear! Members: $20, Non-members: $30
New York! New York! (3-7 yrs): Celebrate our city Jodi’s Gym style! We’ll take an imaginary adventure through the city while doing fantastic gymnastics, create a super cool taxi cab craft, read our favorite NYC book & top it off with a delicious Big Apple snack. Members: $20, Non-members: $30
Crazy for Cartwheels (6-10 yrs): Join us for 1 hour of cartwheeling fun. We guarantee your child will leave with a stronger, straighter & happier cartwheel! Members: $20, Non-members: $30
50 skills With the Fitness Wheel (6-10 yrs): 1 ½ hours of fabulous fun with our 8 ft wide, 3 ft tall inflatable fitness wheel! Every child LOVES the fitness wheel (we’re pretty psyched about it too!) Members: $20, Non-members: $30
Totally Tumbling (6-10 yrs): A 90 minute class for kids who can’t get enough tumbling! Class time will be spent learning cartwheels, handstands, rolls, walkovers, round offs & much more! Members: $30, Non-members: $40
Ready, Set, Vault! (6-10 yrs): If running & jumping is up your child’s ally, then bring them in for 60 minutes of vaulting fun. Class time will be spent doing fantastic gymnastics with spring boards, trampolines & LOTS of sprinting. Yup… they’ll be tired when they are done! Members: $20, Non-members: $30
Handsprings Galore (Accelerated/Advanced class students): 2 hours dedicated to practicing only front & back handsprings! Exclusively for our Accelerated & Advanced gymnastics students, your gymnast will literally “flip” over this class. (Must be registered in our Accelerated or Advanced classes.) Members: $40
Wacky Walkovers (Accelerated/Advanced class students): It’s much more fun to be upside down than right side up (at least that is what we believe)! Bring your gymnast in for 2 hours of front & back walkover fun. Better (and safer) in our gym than in your living room! (Must be registered in our Accelerated or Advanced classes.) Members: $40
