Apple pie

It was Easy to Fall in Love

October 16, 2012 by The Inside Press

with the Chamber sponsored Fall Festival this past Saturday.

Just Between Us: Downtown Chappaqua came alive as perhaps never before on a crisp and clear autumn day that included face painting, bead making, hay rides, playing stations, kitten adoptions, fabulous new sidewalk sale finds and a donut eating and apple pie contest—a big early in the day highlight. Chappaqua’s Teresa Shen won that contest with her three apple preparation and handsome, tasty crust… amidst some stiff competition leftovers I happily sampled when the hoopla had subsided.  Having missed the opportunity to try Teresa’s pie earlier, I  had the very special privilege the next morning to enjoy an entire slice at her home!  See below. Now that was VIP treatment I could taste!

I was also glad to hear later about Bill and Hillary Clinton’s visit into town.  No doubt they enjoyed the music by Music Mixer every bit as much as everyone else too. And just a chance to say hello to friends and neighbors is a gift and opportunity for them–and that seems true for everyone these days. I noticed that lots of folks were commenting about how they were really feeling a sense of community with so many families and folks out and about.  All I could think was: Let’s take back the streets.  — Grace
