The 77th Annual Strawberry Festival  will be held on

Saturday, June 7, 11 a.m–4 p.m.

at St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church in Chappaqua

(South Greeley Avenue, next to the Bell School)

Kids from toddlers to teens can enjoy a day of games & prizes, bounce castles, music, BBQ and, of course, the Festival’s traditional strawberry shortcake and smoothies.

A featured musical act is the long-adored Annie and the Natural Wonder Band, which will perform on the great lawn from 12-12:40 p.m. and again from 2-2:40 p.m. The event also features a wide variety of craft vendors, attic treasures, raffles, bake sale and other musical acts throughout the day.

Proceeds benefit the Parish’s outreach fund which supports a number of local philanthropic organizations.

On Wednesday, May 28 at 7 p.m., the Rosenthal JCC, 600 Bear Ridge Road, Pleasantville, will host a Wine & Cheese reception and Book Signing for Pamela D. Blair, author of Getting Older Better:  The Best Advice Ever on Money, Health, Creativity, Sex, Work Retirement and More.  This event is free and open to the public!

Getting Older Bette is filled with positive and practical advice for boomers during the second half of their lives.  In her book, Blair takes the reader on a journey of discovery–exploring the hopeful, interesting, and exciting aspects of aging, where she covers over 100 topics including health, memory, friendship, retirement, parenting adulating children and so much more. The best is yet to come… and Pamela Blair helps lead you there as she offers both serious and lighthearted advice with humor and optimism.

The author appearance is an Engage in Conversation event, through the UJA-Federation of New York Engage Jewish Service Corps of Westchester.  All are welcome to attend!  Engage is a volunteering initiative for boomers and beyond who want to utilize their expertise, passion and leadership to effect powerful change within the Jewish community through a variety of hands-on volunteer activities. What: The Westchester Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America will host its 8th annual Westchester/Rockland Walk4Hearing, a 5K (3.1 mile) walk in support of programs and services that raise awareness for the 48 million Americans living with hearing loss, and specifically the 320,000 in Rockland and Westchester counties. The Walk4Hearing is one of 22 coordinated walks around the country sponsored by the Hearing Loss Association of America.

Pete Ruf, News 12 Westchester sports anchor, will serve as the event’s emcee. Special guests will include Dr. Gloria Schlisselberg, head of the Speech & Hearing program at Mercy College, and Jacob Landis of Jacob’s Ride, who will cut the ceremonial Walk ribbon.

When: Saturday, May 17, 2014, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

League of Women Voters of New Castle

Our annual Candidates’ Night for the school and library board elections will be held at the Chappaqua Library on Thursday, May 15th at 7 pm.   The two Board of Education positions are uncontested and there are three candidates for one position on the library board.
