Join us on the eve of the annual outdoor mega-yoga event for a special opportunity to meet Matthew Sanford up close and personal, at a special event at the new Equinox Armonk.

Matthew will read from his memoir, Waking: A Memoir of Trauma and Transcendence, speak about how he uses yoga practice to address the short and long-term effects of traumatic loss and disability and answer questions. The body that I live in suffers, and it has a lot of pain in it, but through my yoga practice, and at my very core, life feels good.” These are the words of Matthew Sanford in a recent interview with YogaCityNYC.  Paralyzed after a car accident at age thirteen, Matthew now teaches yoga all over the world. Says Matthew: “Yoga is for all people and all bodies.”

WHEN: 7-8 pm on Tuesday, June 17
WHERE: EQUINOX Armonk, NY, 99 Business Park Drive, Armonk, NY
 10504
To attend, please RSVP to armonkevents@equinox.com. Space is limited and admission is free.

The following evening, come take your first stretch of summer at MHA’s mega outdoor yoga event, an annual celebration of the connection between physical and mental wellness. Get on Your Mat for Mental Health  brings yogis and yoginis from all over the region to White Plains after work on Wednesday, June 18 at 5:30 pm on Court Street (between Main and Martine) to celebrate the summer solstice. Matthew Sanford will lead the one hour yoga class and Answer the Muse, a spiritually-inspired performance ensemble, will be providing the music before and after class.

Pre-registration is $20 ($25 day of event); little yogis under 12, $10. The event is for all ages and all levels of yoga experience and includes a groovy yoga marketplace. The first 500 registrants receive a free mat and gift bag. Register at  www.MHAwestchester.org
