“A nation of Immigrants” Festival & Columbus Day Celebration

“A Nation of Immigrants” Festival & Columbus Day Celebration will take place on Sunday, October 9, 2011, from 11:00am to 6:00pm, in downtown Mount Kisco NY, behind Town Hall. The outdoor event will be presented by Neighbors Link and the Italian American Club of Northern Westchester, in collaboration with ArtsWestchester, the Ancient Order of Hibernians Div. 16, Curtis Instruments, Inc., PACT (Police and Community Together, Mount Kisco), the Town/Village of Mount Kisco and the Westchester Community Foundation. Admission will be free and open to the public.

“A Nation of Immigrants” Festival & Columbus Day Celebration will celebrate the diverse cultures of Northern Westchester by showcasing a broad range of traditions and folk arts including music, dance, visual arts, food and crafts. The event is designed to be inclusive, inspire unity and reflect the rich cultural diversity of the region.

The Opening Ceremony of the Columbus Day Celebration and Festival will take place at 11:00am at the Christopher Columbus statue near the Mount Kisco Public Library, and be led by the Italian-American Club of Northern Westchester. Entertainment will follow and include multi-cultural Irish, Italian, Latin American and a variety of other music and dance performances. An art contest, sponsored by the Italian American Club of Northern Westchester, will award the best painting of an image of Mount Kisco.

The goal of “A Nation of Immigrants” Festival & Columbus Day Celebration is to inspire neighbors to come together to recognize, celebrate and share our unique cultures and the rich diversity of our community. Numerous non-profit organizations will also be on hand to disseminate information about the wealth of local community resources and services, including the arts, nutrition and wellness.
