A Musical Day Camp EXPERIENCE at the New York Rock Academy

May 22, 2014 by The Inside Press

This summer enroll your child in a new summer camp experience at The New York Rock Academy musical day camp.  Young people ages 8 to 18 can learn guitar, drums, bass, keys, vocals and songwriting. Camp sessions can be anywhere from 1 to 7 weeks and no previous musical experience is necessary.  Famous guest artists will mentor campers on a weekly basis.  Camp begins Monday, June 30th and parents can register their child now by calling (914) 238-3123 or by visiting http://www.musicinchappaqua.com/our-programs-2/summer-day-camp/ for more information.

“The music day camp at The New York Rock Academy is a way for campers to not only learn a musical instrument, but they will also be able to foster their individual growth and self-worth,” says music educator Janet Angier who presides over The New York Rock Academy, a division of Music in Chappaqua.

The camp program creates musical bands by matching campers with others of similar age, taste and playing ability–and then they immediately begin making music! Beginners often find themselves performing complete arrangements of their favorite songs by the end of a single session. Advanced campers will fine tune their skills–learning the subtleties of instrumental and vocal technique.

Janet Angier, a superbly gifted musician in her own right, has nourished the talents of hundreds of young people at the highly regarded Music in Chappaqua, the music academy she founded two decades ago and presides over today.

“Unlike many specialized activities, playing a musical instrument helps develop both sides of the brain at the same time, increasing intellectual functions and physical coordination, patience and confidence; aiding in the child’s emotional development by providing an outlet for self-expression,” Ms. Angier added.

“We provide a really informative and fun summer program, for all children not just budding musicians,” she says. “It is a unique camp experience where they can really blossom.”
